The Open Horizons Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that believes in every child's right to support and opportunity—no matter their challenges. Through community partnerships, advocacy, and direct funding, we strive to expand quality care, education, and resources across Texas and beyond. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for children with autism, congenital heart defects, and other diagnoses, empowering them to become effective, contributing members of society.
The need for our work is clear: 316 children born daily who may later be diagnosed with autism, that is 13 children born per hour. As of 2025, 1 in 31 children (about 3.2%) aged 8 years in the U.S. were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Additionally, 2–3 million individuals in the U.S. live with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). These statistics drive our mission to provide essential support and resources to these communities.
We partner with underserved communities to create meaningful improvements for children with disabilities by building centers that the state offers families funding for.
We engage communities to identify areas in need of support and host family events for individuals with impairments. Connecting families with similar needs gives parents years of their lives back.
Supporting inclusive daycare facilities equipped to care for children with autism and Congenital Heart Defects (CHD).
Providing access to specialized therapy services including occupational, speech, and physical therapy.
Creating inclusive community programs that foster understanding and acceptance.
