The Open Horizons Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that believes in every child's right to support and opportunity, no matter their challenges. We use a community of volunteers to find families capable of re-engaging in society with the right support. Through community partnerships, advocacy, and direct funding, we strive to expand quality care, education, and resources across Texas and beyond. We are dedicated to empower families of children with disabilities of all kinds with vital resources, inclusive opportunities, and supportive communities by breaking down knowledge barriers, fostering advocacy. We measure our success by the families that gain the tools they need to thrive locally, holistically, and with dignity while never feeling alone in their child’s journey.
7 to 15 per 1,000 children have a level of medical complexity that requires around the clock one-on-one care. We are partnering with Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers (PPECC) to build care communities where all types of children can be dropped off so parents can safely re-join the workforce.
When someone becomes a volunteer, they become a beacon allowing families to connect to resources, opportunities, and other like-minded teams to alleviate boundaries ordinary families face made extraordinary by their special needs.
Supporting licensed Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers for children with complex and severe medical needs as well as inclusive daycares for the siblings of the PPECC children and those with developmental disabilities.
Providing access to specialized therapy services including occupational, speech, and physical therapy.
Creating inclusive community programs that foster understanding and acceptance.
Help with adaptive and communication devices.
